As of July 30, 2026, more than 230 companies and organizations have signed the open letter. This milestone reflects broad momentum for expanding access to AI innovation and ensuring its benefits reach every sector of the economy.

NVIDIA and Founding Members Launch Open Secure AI Alliance to Advance AI Security
NVIDIA announced the Open Secure AI Alliance on July 27, 2026, bringing together more than 27 founding members including Microsoft, SpaceX, Dell, CrowdStrike, Cisco, and The Linux Foundation. The alliance aims to develop and share open-source tools, models, and research to safeguard AI software and agents. It builds on the Linux Foundation’s Akrites initiative and OpenSSF community work, focusing on vulnerability remediation and disclosure using open technologies. By operating in the open, the alliance seeks to broaden the community of AI security defenders across cloud, cybersecurity, enterprise software, and AI research sectors.
Kimi K3: Moonshot Ships the First Open 3T-Class Model
Moonshot AI has released Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter open multimodal model with a 1M-token context window. Its new attention mechanisms and Stable LatentMoE architecture deliver about 2.5× better scaling efficiency than Kimi K2, with demos including an autonomously developed compiler and chip. Moonshot says K3 still trails Claude Fable 5 and GPT 5.6 Sol and may become unstable without full reasoning history. It is available across Kimi products and API, priced from $0.30/MTok for input and $15/MTok for output, with full weights on Hugging Face and GitHub.
OpenAI Offers 100,000 Researchers Free Frontier AI Access
OpenAI announced ChatGPT for Academic Researchers, a program providing scientists, mathematicians, and engineers with free access to its frontier AI models. The initiative begins with 10,000 researchers and is set to expand to 100,000 participants through 2027. The program is designed to accelerate discovery across a range of academic disciplines. Google DeepMind Launches Gemini Robotics 2 for Full-Body Humanoid Control
Google DeepMind has announced Gemini Robotics 2, a next-generation physical AI model designed to serve as a unified intelligence system for humanoid robots. The model introduces full-body intelligence, enabling humanoids to coordinate complex whole-body movements, as well as advanced dexterity for fine-grained manipulation tasks. It also supports multi-robot teamwork, allowing multiple robots to collaborate on shared objectives. Gemini Robotics 2 is positioned as a general-purpose robotics brain applicable across different robot hardware platforms.
Anthropic: Claude Mythos Preview Finds Cryptographic Weaknesses
Anthropic has published research showing that Claude Mythos Preview, a preview version of its Claude model, assisted researchers in identifying weaknesses in cryptographic algorithms—the mathematical methods used to keep data private.
